Three Alleged Members of Pussy Riot Recognized as Political Prisoners

Union of Solidarity with Political Prisoners in Russia has issued a statement recognizing Maria Alyokhina, Nadezhda Tolokonnikova and Ekaterina Samutsevich as political prisoners. According to the Union, the three women are charged with 'hooliganism' according to article 213/2 of Criminal Code, without any evidence for incriminating such charges, which makes both pre-trial arrest and the charges, illegal. The three women are being incarcerated in the pre-trial detention center N6 until the final trial set for 24 April 2012.
